![]() robots, would dilly dally its way across maps, finding cover, going "Overwatch," "Onnnn overwatch," "Moving to overwatch," and generally covering each other's asses well enough that should the spooky bad guys pop out of nowhere, the losses would be minimized.Įnemy Within asks you to play differently by design. My squad of soldiers, usually bolstered by a couple of hovering S.H.I.V. Like a lot of people, I've adapted to Enemy Unknown's constant threat and mystery by being careful. I do like the grenade and proximity mines. They are nice for getting rid of cover or giving the aliens a hard time moving about.I wanted to see if breaking out of the comfort zone of the "no hurry offense" style that works so well in Enemy Unknown would be an "aha" or more like an "oh no." Like writing with the wrong hand or typing wearing gloves. That's all I did.I got my four mechs and then put them on a milk run mission.I never field more than one during a normal mission and I swap between the four each time one of them gets a promotion. The more I think about this achievement, the more I want to just make a save, augment my colonels and take on a small scout or council mission. The By Our Powers Combined achievement is ridiculous since it is unfeasable to ever field a group of soldiers like that. Add to using them as stealth spotters for grenade launcher or proximity mine, and they could do some real damage. Smoke grenades can give extra defense and they can hold 3 arc thrower charges and or medikits to heal the MECs that are going to be drawing lots of fire. The support is absolutely useless because MECs can't use cover and it only applies to units in cover.Īn all MEC squad does seem questionable because of the limitations of MECs. The sniper bonus is questionable too since you normally need to move into firing range to take a shot. The assault is marginally useful since getting it to activate is questionable because you could just activate more enemies and get into more trouble. Well the heavy has some potential for usefulness, especially if there is only one active enemy. The class bonus for the mech's is just that really.I mean its the weapons and the upgrades you pick for them is what makes them so good at what they do. Still not got a fully upgraded one yet but I do have one for each class and its nice to have something different.I mean yeah they are harder to use in ways as cover dose not work for them but that's a good thing really because what could you use as cover for them in this game. They can blow up cover.do upto 12 damage with a punch.or if you like have a flame thrower and flush people out of cover. The rail gun upgrade they get is also very nice. They will use their second move to try to get into cover rather than overwatch like they normally do. ![]() You just need to be creative with cover so that you can only see one enemy at a time or strike so no one is left to see you move to hide.Įnemies can tell they are flanked even by stealthed units. Assaults using Close and Personal or Heavy using Rapid Fire can move up/hide next to an enemy, kill them and go back to hiding in the same turn. Compared to my stealth assaults, stealth heavies, and snipers, the hit and run tactics are so strong. In what way? I still haven't figured out how to use them.
